Created for Beneficial Shock Magazine Issue Ten, this two-spread illustration explores the solitary journey of legendary swordsman, artist, and poet Miyamoto Musashi. Inspired by the reed fields of Sekiro, the scene reflects themes of discipline, isolation, and inner cultivation. The work parallels my own year-long creative retreat, using Musashi’s path as a lens to examine artistic devotion, survival, and the struggle to remain human in a brutal modern age.
